Purpose-built Doppelmayr bike cabins carry 8 bikes at a time. You roll the bike in and enjoy one of the most effortless rides to the top of the mountain.
A shuttle day is a couple of runs and a lot of sitting in a van. A cable car day is as many laps as your legs are good for.
The Trails
15 miles of purpose-built singletrack drop from the summit at 8,800 feet back toward town, through pine trees, aspens, and out onto the open shoulders where the whole canyon is in view.
Starting on Eureka, you will experience steep, sweeping berms and wood features that are rollable for a rider still finding their feet. Drop Shaft is steeper, rockier, and more technical than the flow trails, with alternative options for more experienced riders. Virginia Canyon Mountain Park offers a variety of trails to challenge all ability levels, with more to come!
Everything is signed at the junctions, and the trail crew keeps working; the network grows every season.

Virginia Canyon Mountain Park is a public open space park owned and operated by the town of Idaho Springs, not the Argo. We sell the ride up; the trail rules are posted at the trailheads and at the top of the Cable Car
Built for advanced riders
Due to the unique topography of Virginia Canyon, you will experience steep, technical terrain, and it is not recommended for beginners. This is not the place to learn.
Bring your own
Your bike, your helmet, pads, and your judgment. No rentals and no shuttle recovery on site. Rentals are available in town at Chainlynx Bike Shop or Freeride Bike Shop

Historic shafts and adits all over this hillside. Stay on marked trail. Never enter an opening.

We do not rent bikes — but two shops in town do, both a few minutes from the base terminal.
